Travel Information
Every visitor to Italy must have a valid passport and a visa if required. A visa is not required for citizens of the EU, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Please contact your local Italian embassy or consulate for further information. If required, apply for an Italian visa as soon as possible.
Foreign visitors to Rome typically fly into Leonardo-da-Vinci Airport (FCO). From FCO, you may take the direct train "Leonardo Express" to Roma Termini central station. This train leaves every half an hour, from 6:06 in the morning to 23:00 at night (later there is a night bus every hour). The train trip takes 31 minutes. A one-way ticket costs 11 Euro and can be bought at the railway counters or at ticketing machines (also by credit card). Tickets should be stamped before getting into the train (there are yellow boxes close to the platforms).
The Roma Termini railway station is a stop for both subway lines (Metro A and Metro B) and for many bus connections going everywhere in the city (click here for more info on public transportation in Rome). Most of the hotels on the list provided are very close to the train station, some reachable on foot, even when carrying luggage. The conference site (Angelicum) can also be reached on foot (15 min), see interactive map below.
You may also take a taxi from the airport (40 Euro flat fee) or from the railway station. Public taxis are white, with a code and the sign of the city of Roma on the doors, and with a taximeter. Do not trust people who approach you offering private taxi service.
